My photography journey started simply: I wanted better pictures of my first baby. It turned out to be a lot more technical than I expected, and that challenge pushed me to learn everything I could. Years later, photography is one of my greatest joys because my kids’ lives are so thoroughly documented, and those memories will always be my most valuable keepsakes.

The Birthday That Changed Everything

When my oldest turned three, our summer birthday party got rained out. I brought all the decorations inside and crammed them into smaller spaces, thinking it would ruin the look.

Instead, something unexpected happened:

• The decorations felt more intentional and complete.

• My photos looked better than ever.

• I realized I didn’t need to decorate my entire house to create something beautiful.

That Baby Shark party taught me that with smart composition and a few focal points, you can make a party feel Pinterest-worthy without going overboard.

My Party Philosophy

Now I design celebrations around three main zones:

• A tablescape for food, cake, and gifts

• A table for eating.

• A photo backdrop for family and guest pictures.

Everything else supports those areas. This approach saves time, keeps costs down, and ensures the pictures turn out beautifully. My parties now get pinned and repinned on Pinterest — and more importantly, I get to actually enjoy them.
